The Anglo-Finnish steel company, Outo Kumpu recently held a series of events to commemorate the centenary of the invention of stainless steel in Sheffield by Harry Brearley.
From Thursday to Saturday, ex Southern Railway 4-6-2 No. 35028 'Clan Line' took part, hauling a few loaded wagons up and down the company sidings.
Note the British & Finnish flags adorning the buffer beam. This line used to be the approach line to the ex BR Tinsley depot which closed in 1998.

I quite like the pylons as they add something to the sky and fit with the industrialised setting.
It was tempting to go for bleak monochrome but it was such a nice sunnny day, it would have been a shame.

It seems a humble task for a Merchant Navy Class to be pulling steel freight wagons but a great picture Peter. I don't mind the pylons, they are part of the scene.

David, during the first run I observed, there was a sudden quickening then slowing of exhaust which a few of us thought was a slip.
I read on another website that the loco shown on the following link was scheduled to do the honours. But it was suggested that EWS/DBSchenker did not want their wagons shoved about by a non-air braked loco. An LMS 8F would have been more suitable!

At about 4pm, the wagons left as part of a scheduled freight service, so for the last hour on Saturday the loco was running light engine, giving cab rides to visitors to the steelworks families open day.
