Well caught Cliff. The train is pinsharp but the foliage and rails seem blurred - did you zoom during exposure to create a pan effect? However you did it this is most effective. I'm glad I wasn't stuck somewhere out in the wilds of the Settle and Carlisle Railway waiting for this if it was over an hour late.

Hi David, Just straight forward panning, no time for messing about zooming as she was moving quite a bit. The shutter speed was 1/180 sec for the shot (god knows why the exif data says 1111/200000 sec!) and because of poor lightI had to use an ISO of 800 to get that.

Good viewpoint and perspective on a fine engine.

Are you kidding us though? I did not know that panning was effective when so "head-on".

I thought it looked like a "selective blurring" in PSE or the like.
