The image really suits B+W David, almost a step back in time!.
We should organise a user meet for all the steam buffs on PU and travel (steam hauled) along the Settle ans Carlisle route or somewhere, That would be a great day out.

Love this one, David. A real main-line classic shot. They're handsome (if a bit Eastern for our cultured GWR tastes!) Love the head-on shot, too! Big gala next two weekends on the WSR but I am rubbish at engine shots!

Thanks for all the comments. Ken, this engine is still blue but the light the day I took this was wishy washy and it looks better in b+w.

I feel a temptation to go b/w for steam shots too, to heighten the sense of nostalgia, though this loses the maroons or apple green engines.
B/W works well here, facing head-on to the black smokebox.
