Rainbow Cascade

by davidstorm

I put a post on the Forum yesterday that includes this image, which I think may become one of my personal favourites. It's not often you go to a place and conditions are so magical that you just stand there in awe. That happened yesterday at Aira Force Waterfall, near Glendinning in the Lake District, where the sun and the spray from the waterfall treated us to a display of spectacular rainbows that lasted about an hour.

This is one of the images I shot, taken with a long lens to isolate a part of the scene and focussed on the water droplets formed by the spray, which combined with the shutter speed chosen, is intended to make it look abstract.
