Williton Warning
by pgweber
Ex GWR 2-8-0 No. 3850 slowly approaches Williton station on the West Somerset Railway, as the driver gets ready to hand over the token to the signalman.
I liked the bold red of the sign that was echoed by the bufferbeam of the locomotive.

Great shot, Peter. Williton Station is wonderfully atmospheric, but not an easy place to photograph trains. Will and I hope to be travelling behind the 38XX on Friday afternoon: it's one of our favourite engines but we always seem to miss it!
Best wishes,
Andrew

Thank you John & Andrew for your kind comments.
It was the attractive colour of the sign that drew me to it.
As Andrew will probably know, I was stood in a bit of a tight spot on the platform ramp (with the signalbox) on my right, so that feeling of compression plus the vertical nature of the sign suggested a portrait orientation.
I was surprised no-one suggested cloning out the power lines though!

You know, Peter, telegraph lines are such a feature of preserved railways they don't bother me the way they do in other shots.

Nice shot. My Auntie used to live in Williton in an old thatched property on the main road (haunted, mind you!) and I have very fond memories of the place.

Telegraph wires? I didn't even notice them until you mentioned Andrew,Iwas too busy looking at the loco. Fine engines those 28XX and 29XX locos and that's a good photo of one Peter.
