Yazz in Concert

by Peter Elgar

Singer 'Yazz' gave a Concert at Trinity Church, Brentwood and I was covering it for the Brentwood Gazette. This pic was used very large in the spread about the event. I used my K10D with my 70=150mm f4 Pentax-M zoom lens at full aperture, and available light.

'Yazz'...as in "The Only Way Is Up" ? Blimey I wouldn't have recognised her. Image I have in my head is of a short blonde-haired 'punk' attired girl from over 20 years ago!

Nice capture though.

It was my first thought too.
This shot is a great portrait. The lights are perfect, it looks like a studio photo. Her face is well lit and decorating lights are visible on her hair. Congratulations.

Excellent shot, probably in fairly tricky lighting. Also, well focussed with the manual lens, all in all it is very good.

Many thanks for all the views and Comments -- YES, she told her life story how she had had a breakdown and 'vanished' and lived abroad, then found Religion -- the lights were tricky as the contrast was not 'kind' to her skin wrinkles but I picked a good 'flattering one' and it was used LARGE in the Brentwood Gazette.
