Damn you Hardgravity (just kidding: I'm so furious I could spit (bit like the little fella in the image, really)

I've been trying to identify the critter since last night and, based on morphological features and pale colour, had narrowed it down to the nymphal stage of an Hemipteran, and given a little more time would probably have come to the same conclusion as you - honest

FYI, Steve, its common name is 'spittlebug' and they are usually (not) seen encased in white froth or 'cuckoo-spit', which serves to keep them moist and protect them from predators.

Super shot!

So the creature hiding in cuckoo spit is the larval stage of this ugly bug...ger?
Is this it?
