It is worth it John.
Each shot was taken at f5 and the focus moved a little bit (used Tamron 90mm macro), and Zerene Stacker - although Combine ZP which is free can produce good results as well

The beauty of stacking is that you can use a relatively large aperture for each shot which keeps a nice soft out of focus background.
