Birdy.

by pauljay

I'd like to introduce you to Birdy, a magpie that we've been rearing for the last month! We found her ( we're not totally sure of the gender) in the front garden on a Thursday afternoon having either fallen or been ejected from the nest. All we saw was a bundle of feathers that was breathing strongly and thus worthy of our attention. We didn't really expect her to last out the night but by the next day she was full of life and pleading for sustenance. A little bit of on-line reading led us to concocting a soggy mess out of cat food, which she is still devouring to this day, along with just about anything else that comes her way. Flying lessons gave her the courage to fly up into trees but to expect Shari and I to climb up and retrieve her! In the last couple of days she has learned that what flies up can damn well fly back down again!
This little bird has brought a ray of sunshine into our lives and gives us so much pleasure, and laughs!

Wonderful to have one's love and patience rewarded. We have a wild one that shoos the cat off so it can steal the food.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Ah so sweet, we rescued some baby sparrows this year that had fallen down a neighbours wall cavity which was about 200 yards away from our home, we put them in our camera nesting box, i didn't think the parents would find them but they did + we were able to watch them on the monitor, makes you feel good ... a super pic too by the way!
