Thanks ever so much for the encouraging comments The sky was cloudless, fine, hazy and bright - so the woods seemed a worthwhile venture for a journey.
I have been to this wood many times before, but this was the first time I have made a photograph there - it seemed to speak to me more on this occasion, in the way the light and shadows played upon it.

Beautifully shot Phil, the HDR treatment is perfect for this picture.
It is very difficult to take successful pictures of trees like this, but you have nailed it.

Thanks very much for your thoughtful and encouraging comments on this one David Trees fascinate me! Tried to do several bracketed exposures, but there was just enough of a subtle breeze to make it nigh on impossible to avoid any ghosting. Have experimented with split-RAW fusions on several subjects and it seems to have some benefits in it
