The Abbey
by davidstorm
I've done a series of images today at one of my favourite locations, Roche Abbey in South Yorkshire. This place has so much atmosphere and lends itself to something a bit different, so for this series I've used a Hoya R72 IR filter on my Pentax-M 28mm F3.5 and taken exposures of about 2 minutes. I think the results suit the subject, but that's for others to decide.
K-3, Pentax-M 28mm F3.5, Hoya R72 IR Filter, Redsnapper Tripod, Remote Release
BTW, please ignore the lens focal length reported in the EXIF data, it is incorrect.

Really interesting and imaginative take on this location, with great use of foreground.

That's a great introductory shot for a photo essay that invites a more detailed examination of the abbey by you.
I can see what draws you to this place.
Regards, Ian.

Super place David, and a great atmospheric shot, the filters have certainly added something different, definitely like it!

Thanks to you all for the comments, I need to try more of this type of photography, to learn what I can squeeze out of the technique with a cheap filter (got it second hand for £12) and a camera that is not designed for IR images.
Cheers
