Class 5 at Dent

Class 5 steam loco No. 45305 roars through England's highest mainline station at Dent in the Pennines at the head of the northbound Mersey Moorlander charter train which was travelling from Liverpool to Carlisle via the Settle and Carlisle Railway. Pete Webber caught the same train returning south a few miles away at Ais Gill summit later the same day.

I like this viewpoint better than the one I chose for my own shot of the Duchess (two days earlier). The side-lighting sets off the exhaust nicely.
My shot of this train was actually on the same Northbound trip, seven minutes after yours according to the Exif data.
When I was on the bridge at Ais Gill, a slow moving Southbound coal train came along which I was sure would ruin my shot of the steamer, but fortunately not. It must have passed you AFTER the steamer?
The Southbound steamer ran was via Shap, where I captured it on the descent at Greenholme.

Peter, a freight train did come through Dent just a few minutes after I grabbed my shot. I had passed Ais Gill in the car on my way to Dent about an hour before the steam train was due.
