Bee fly feeding

Its name seems to be Bombylius Major. They have suddenly become the insect of the year to photograph. I had never seen one before this year so I can only suppose there has been a population explosion, bringing them to attention?
It flies with that proboscis sticking out forwards as if it is a weapon but, as seen here, it is a feeding device.
The photo was taken with the DA 55-300 on a K3-ii ..... a most versatile combination.

Saw loads of these a couple of weekends ago at Anglesey Abbey Cambridge, didn't manage any shot like this though, great macro
