The Curious Case of the Pheasant in the Gate

Photo of the Week by PeterKR

As I was composing a shot of the Parish Church at Hinton Ampner a pheasant appeared from behind the wall and stayed there just long enough for me to get this shot then wandered off again !

Many thanks to all of you for the nice comments.

I have to admit that it was my wife who spotted the pheasant coming out from behind the wall so I waited till he was near the middle of the gates before 'firing'.
As wozfromcov points out sometimes we are just lucky with photobombings !

Thanks again
Peter

Such a restful and beautiful view, even without the posing pheasant.

I'm also struck by the quality of the image in this shot, and by that I'm not referring to the composition or the exposure, but to the way the K70's sensor has rendered it. It must be one heck of a good sensor in that camera. Hope you don't think this detracts from your input Peter as that's not how it is intended.

Many thanks to both Davids.
To some extent the purist might say the pheasant detracts from the shot but I love quirky things.

Regarding the K70, David S - after some initial worries with the jpegs that resulted in me taking it back to SRS who pointed out the error of my ways in the way I'd had it set up, I processed the RAW images and found they were superb (they were the ones of the snowdrops). Impressed by their service I then went back and PX'd my non WR DA 55-300 for the new PLM version and that's what I used this week for this shot and the one of the daisies.

The sensor in the K70 is (i believe) the same as in the K3II and the K70 does also have the latest mount needed for the PLM lens. All in all I feel this is a real bargain camera.

However, I've still not mastered the settings enough to get consistently good SOOC jpegs so I rely on processing the DNG files in PSE 11 - but that is dead easy now I'm used to it.

So yes, I'm also impressed by this sensor.

Many thanks for the comments - much valued from someone with your experience and expertise.

Thanks again
Peter
