What a fabulous shot David, really superb. Monotone trees, grass and sky then this wonderful splash of russet colour and detail in the middle. If ever a picture was worthy of being printed and hung on the wall, this is it.

It is superb, no doubt about that. Even so, I would think about the area of sky top left. If that could be trees as well it would enhance it further. However, that's a minor point and it's fantastic just as it is.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. This picture was taken in February 2010 on a K10 and although I tried then to get the best out of the RAW file it defied my attempts to get reasonable IQ from it. Last week I had another go for the weekly competition on 'Winter.' My PS experience has improved a little since 2010 and so has my latest version of Photoshop.

I agree with John about the top left of the image. I tried to clone in some frosty trees but it just didn't hang together well. I didn't want to crop from the left because it would mean losing the small tree on the extreme left and the edge of the cattle path so I thought I'd leave well alone. At least the small area of sky is white and misty, fortunately not blue.It is superb, no doubt about that. Even so, I would think about the area of sky top left. Beautiful image, lovely tones.
The top left bothers me as well, the spot healing or patch tool in Photoshop may work, it works magic in some of my images in filling in gaps that I would struggle with.
