Rowsley Returnee
by pgweber
As shown in my last gallery entry, Ex BR No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' took the first through train to Rowsley in the preserved era last Sunday.
It is seen here returning to London, caught near Belper, North of Derby.
It is for shots like this that the K5 betters my K10, as ISO 1600 was required to obtain a shutter speed of 1/500 s. This was because there is a high valley wall to the left with a line of tall trees at the top. The view here was mainly in shadow.

At first I thought it was picking up water at troughs Peter, then I realised it was the injector overflow. Very nice shot, the injector steam gives an impression of speed.
You're right about the K5 its better at higher ISO which you need with a fast moving subject.

Thank you Cliff, John & David for your comments of appreciation.
David: curiously I noticed that 'Lizzie' was displaying the same effect on my shot taken last week.
As well as the K5, I am very much enjoying my FA50 /1.4.

Nice sharp capture, well-chosen view angle. I do like this shot.

I agree about the K5, the sensor is very good with noise control when using high ISO, I tend to use Tav mode most of the time now especially with the Sigma 150-500.
