colour spectrum of the beard doesn't leave indifferent, for sure, but, I'd like to contemplate this in b&w version with somehow stronger contrast

I agree, but I also agree with Senn about converting it to B&W. However, he seems to be as colourful a character as his outfit, and colour maybe emphasizing it (?), David.
