On the edge
by sandinista
Another from Curbar Edge last November. This is a south westerly view and Baslow Edge can be seen in the distance.

Dramatic! I know how hard it is to get shots like this and also to get them right. This is another fantastic one.

It is really encouraging to see the quality of images like this. Does it mean there is hope for us all, given the right conditions, choice of subject matter and composition? Most of us have the right equipment! I imagine the careful use of a tripod and exposure and aperture settings must be the critical difference.
This is such a great picture.

Many many thanks for the comments and feedback, it is always appreciated and helps to keep the enthusiasm going.
I imagine the careful use of a tripod and exposure and aperture settings must be the critical difference.
I rarely use a tripod David, can't be a***d lugging one about, the brilliant inbuilt image stabilisation/shake reduction in the K-x helps and the light conditions on the day were extremely advantageous. I find shooting at around f/18 on these sort of landscapes does the trick

Thanks for the advice. I am even more encouraged now. I must agree on the shake reduction abilities of recent Pentaxes. My K5 will take a very decent exposure at very low light levels.I saw people checking their Canons and Nikons recently to figure out why I could get a picture when they couldn't!
