Resting at Rowsley

by pgweber

From Sunday 27th May, here is another shot of Ex BR No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell'. She (?) is simmering nicely, shortly after arrival at Rowsley, at the end of the Peak Rail line from Matlock.

The green livery is shown to good effect and appears similar to that worn by 'Duchess of Sutherland', as shown by David Trout last weekend.

Some pp was required to lighten the smokebox area and subdue the highlights in the sky. Having just installed PSE10, I was able to do this.

You nearly sneaked this one past me Peter!

Good composition and very sharp, The only thing that spoils it for me are the modern day cars on the left of the image, Perhaps a mono conversion may disguise them a little!!.

Nicely captured Peter.

I walked up and down the rope barrier at the edge of the viewing area until I could get all the train in the field of view of my 50mm f1.4. It was just like back in my film days when I had 28, 50 & 80-210 plus a pair of feet!

I am a big fan of this lens and preferred it to my 16-45 for this shot

Nice perspectivic shot Peter. I like the composition and the nice natural colours. The only distracting thing is that patch at the top-right corner.

Well done for observation Gabor. A closer review of this and the next image showed that it was dust/hair on the sensor.

Thanks also for your comments.
