Reflections Spark My Memories

by Wildwood512

Scene of my daughter and her friend fishing at a local campground near where we live in Illinois, USA. Shortly after this photo was taken, all of the trees were removed from around the bridge and some of the pond. 😞 Glad to have this photo to 'reflect upon'!

Lovely image
Why were the trees removed? Were they diseased or dangerous - or just someone's 'good idea'?

Giulio mentioned seeing corn fields in the background, well that is the reason the trees were removed...the people owning the adjacent property thought it a 'good idea' to remove them because of drainage issues for the fields. The trees fell mostly on their property line so the campground didn't have much say.
Cheers...Donna 😊

Such a pity about the trees but you do at least have this lovely shot with the wonderful reflections to look back on

Pity - -might have had to remove trees by E.P.A. order since all water remotely tied to any waterway of any size is now controlled by govt. -similiar destruction of tree stand happened to a friend in tenneesee -he fought it for awhile but became cheaper to remove century old trees- superior image best in large -nostalgic --tg

What a shame a delightful scene gone forever

There would be hell to pay if that happened over here! All mature trees are protected. (thankfully).
It's a happy picture to remember it by.

How sad to lose such a lovely natural frame! A good memory Donna!
