The first shot with my new Vivitar 100mm f/3.5 lens which I bought from CoDa, that seems to be reasonably unfuzzy !!!
It's much harder to use than I expected and I suspect will be a slow learning curve (but fun !)

Glorious shot, the wings are so delicate and you've captured them beautifully.

That's excellent Sally,
Well done!
It does get easier with practice, promise.

Thank you all very much !
What surprised me was that apart from cropping, I hardly had to do anything with it. But I did have to use a little noise reduction. I was also surprised at the light particularly as it was a pretty dull day.

I told you it was a good lens.
With f/3.5, you won't have a problem with light - I'm surprised at the amount of DOF you have got with that f stop tbh. The problem with light will come when you try to get a greater DOF by using a higher f stop number.

Stunning! Hand held or tripod?

What you need are lenses, more lenses, bigger lenses, better lenses, faster lenses, vintage lenses and when you have these, your pictures will be perfect!

Thank you, Defragged ! It was hand-held and heavily cropped.

For hand held that's o'sum. I wish I had such a steady hand!

I've lost count of the amount of fuzzies I had up until this one

I've got the Cosina version of your Vivitar, as well as as a Vivitar S1 105mm macro and a Pentax-A 100mm macro and with all three stacked together I don't seem to be able to achieve acceptable sharpness. I guess for me it's a tripod & more perseverance required. I'll be on the lookout for more inspiration from you....

Great colours and details, good use of selective focus. This is an excellent capture.
