Recently purchased a 100 mm macro from the ads here and just trying it out David this was taken hand held tried a few wasnt happy so set I think f8 to see what dof I could manage still not happy so added a fill in flash seemed to work and I dont do PS just little tweak with the sharpening I think thats it really the hardest part was holding the camera still Just BRILLIANT!!! It would be nice if you could post some lens & light info on this one to give us a clue how you achieved this stunning result.

Wow David,this is such fantastic photo, The hoverflies are everywhere this year but trying to capture one as you have, well for once words fail me!!!!! (not really) its all the above and more, best wishes Trixie

On the money! - I like these hover flies not only are they colourful, but the tend to stop for a while making shots a 'little' bit easier to achieve
