I think this looks like a Tree Sparrow Roger, much rarer than the House Sparrow and a lot more attractive plumage. I might be wrong, but from this angle Tree Sparrow looks the more likely?

I don't think so, David.
I don't know whether this is an immature or one in winter plumage but you can make out the large black "bib" beginning to show, which is much smaller in the tree sparrow......?
