First Ever Portrait
by Richdb
This is my first portrait of my niece, shot with my Samsung GX10, Pentax 50mm lens, x2 Speedlites, and edited with Portrait Professional and Photoshop.

If this is your first portrait, it is a good one. I really like the background. The look works really well.

It's a stunning first effort. Image what you might accomplish in the future. Your model is very easy on the eye.
If you don't mind a little constructive criticism, I think it's a little over-sharpened. There's brittle quality to the fine details which suggests this. I am a great admirer of the sensor in your camera which, I feel, responds particularly well to "less is more" approach to post processing.

Thank you Andrew for your valued comments, will definitely bear this in mind for future images. Cheers, Richard.

I think it is potentially very beautiful.
You should be proud of yourself for this first effort, however, it does look very 'over processed' to me and would benefit from a more natural look. I think I would try it without the 'portrait professional' software and process it yourself with no automatic intervention.
There is a huge amount of potential here that is begging to be released.
Regards
David

A lovely overall effect. The only thought I have is that your crop has cut the neckline on her top and it might be nice to complete the shape by having it all in.
It's a very minor point though and it's excellent.
