Facing the oncoming onslaught

It may seem empty to you Gray but to me it's full of delight, with the softness of the child and the roughness of the sea it tells a lovely little story.

Why post the image if you feel it seems empty and lifeless?

To give you the chance of showing your preference for using film?

Not at all. What I am saying is....I have no skill in Digital. I'm honest enough to say so. I have commented upon others' digital work most favourably because it works and rocks in others' hands. You're right....I do prefer film for myself personally because digital in my hands gives me a feeling of failure. This photograph? I'll still post a poor photograph if it can be considered and commented on for improvement. Why?...because opinions and advise are what this site is all about. Film rocks for me....Digital rocks for others.

Maybe a deeper connotation lay in the camera mediums we work in. It's like what we drive, I trundle around in a 42 year old VW camper van. I love it. Show me a sports car and I'd give it a go. Having tried the sporty driving experience at least I could tell you why I love the VeeDub. I'm showing you why I prefer film here....because the result above is proof for me.

If you cannot say something constructive, try to be nice; if you find that difficult, perhaps it's best to say nothing.
After all, some folk may not agree that your street photography really IS the "best", but have the good manners to keep it to themselves.

I was making an observation. Others do digital far better than I ever could. Film suits me and this above is proof I fail with pixels. I think it was because I was too taken in at the time with looking at the image straight away on the little screen. Film has a latency that is something I have to wait for. So, when imagining an intended image I have a different philosophy I suppose. All this analysis is a bit too deep also I suppose. After all, any photograph is important to the person who feels tingles on looking at it.

I know what you mean, I have had my first and only digital (K5)for about 3 years and still struggle to show what I want. Sometimes I think that a newer computer and software (rather the free ) may help,maybe...
Time, money and space allowing I would use film. I've a lovely 6X7...

You're right leep. I have a cheap kodak scanner/printer but have a nice laptop. My thoughts on this one are just muddy. I must admit that, yes, I should get a decent set up.

This is the stretch between Borth and Ynyslas proper. That little haven where you can't dip your toes in the sea because of the dangerous currents. But you can sit with the dunes behind you, a pebbled circle surrounding driftwood fire flames and banging on a lovely Djembe drum or strumming on a guitar whilst the sun sets. Bet you want to be back here now don't you?

It doesn't matter what one uses to produce a image. Film, digital, B and W, Color, HDR etc,etc. It doesn't matter what image is produced on. Paper, glass, computer screen, etc., etc
It doesn't even matter what the image comprises, even if the image is a "happy mistake" or a studio image, And lastly, It doesn't matter what Tool you use to produce the image ( Pentax, Poloroid, camera obscura, even Photoshop etc. -- the finest thing we do as artists is to create images of what WE see as artists.All rest is or should become superfluous. Hi Paul. Just spotted your reply. Sorry. There's no way on this site to seek if others have commented on a past photograph other than accessing emails [which is seldom in my case] or trawling back through individual photos in my own site [which is not seldom....it never happens ]. You've asked the ultimate question. I would probably know the difference if I had two prints [digi and film] in front of me....but the computer/laptop versions kind of 'merge' more I would guess. Thanks for the observation. Makes you think.
