You're right, Russ. I tried it and saw that the clarity decreases when converted to mono.

Thank you all, folks!
It was shot in the morning. It was a bright sunny winter day and the subject was in the shade, Paul, but there was no need for flash. I used Picasa to make some little adjustments.
