Discarded exoskeleton (exuvia) of a Large Red Damsefly nymph

The nymph had emerged from the pond earlier that day and moulted on an iris leaf. Just as I was about to press the shutter, the 'rubbernecking' fly 'pulled up' next to it. Sigma 70mm EX DG Macro with strong, natural sidelighting.
