It's a nice shot, but for me the BW version just takes away all that was special about the colour one, so I much prefer the previous one posted!

Sorry but I do like colour version

Black and white.......everytime for me, because as you know, it's what I work in. This black and white has a mysterious quality and the colour has a painterly feel. Both of your photographs have succeeded and work due to their skillful merits. People have said to me that I shoot with a black and white 'eye'. You've made the same photograph work in both colour and B+W mediums.

Thanks everyone, i totally get what you are all saying (although technically they are two different photos :lol - as much as i like the black and white i feel the coloured has more vibrancy and life to it, so it would be my pick of the two. Thanks for all your input, always appreciated. - mary.

They are two different pictures, but the subject matter is the same and very similar in perspective. So....as a matter of interest, when you took the pictures did you think in colour/black and white/or the subject just in itself? This is an interesting subject for me as I only shoot B+W and frame and choose subjects accordingly. It's nice to know what others do.

...When i took these shots Gray, the sun had just came out(for a change) and the jars and beads, that the pictures are of, were glistening and sparkling in the sunlight, which made their colours all the more vibrant. So i would therefore say i took the pictures not with black and white in mind, but colour. I tried black and white conversion with this particuliar shot, simply to see how it would turn out and prefered it, to its original coloured version and so kept it black and white. I dont think i conciously think in black&white/colour when i take photos..although i wish was like you more and could see more things in black and white, because i do love it. I think you have a gift for it and have to admit inspire me to create more in black and white. Hope this is of help. - mary.
