Zoom lens for pentax sf7

Hi I just bought a pentax sf7 and I'm looking to get a zoom lens for it. Any suggestions on a good lens that works well with this camera? Thanks for any help.

Depends what you want from the zoom.

You can have:

option 1 - cheap, light and slow (ie 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6)
option 2 - expensive, heavy and fast (ie 28-70mm f/2.
option 3 - something in between (ie 28-70mm f/4)

What lenses (if any) do you already have and what do you like to take? Without knowing those its hard to make a recommendation. The normal 35mm lens line up was generally three primes; a wide angle (28/35mm), standard (50mm) and telephoto (100/135mm.) You can get zooms covering the same range but the quality of Pentax primes contemporary with the SF7 would be better. Something like the SMC Pentax-F 35-80mm F4-5.6 would be the zoom option, but if you already have a 50mm a longer or wider telephoto might be preferred.

I have a 28-80mm on there now. Looking to get some photos of birds. So was thinking something for distance shots?. Thanks for all the comments so far.

You could try the SMC Pentax-FA J 75-300mm, available at just over £100 from SRS. It's full frame, but has no aperture ring, so you'd need to see is your SF7 would work in Shutter Prioirty or Program mode.
