I'd love to make the meet but have to work this weekend. It's a bu**er because I only work 1 in 14 w/ends and this is it and I am only in Huddersfield.

Weather is set to be good for Saltaire..
So if any one is hesitating don't!
Just come along and enjoy meeting some nice people and sharing ideas.

Sorry we can't be with you, it looks a great spot. It's within range as well, but unfortunately Sue is working.
Have a good day and get some good images.

Well, I'm back in my humble abode running the RAW files through Lightroom. Will post some later on, think I've got about 30 to go through. So shouldn't take along at all. (Plus beer in hand for a hard days shooting)
Was lots of fun, got out and used my camera which was great. Really need to do that more often. Dave suggested a few places which I can't recall but, I can ask again.

Well Daniel (AKA Tyr) seems to have got off to a good start, just had a look through his album and he got some nice shots on the day, I guess he was a little more enthuthiastic than me, I've seen Saltaire hundreds of times so my shutter finger wasn't as excited as his
Still to have a good lok at mine yet, hopefully I may have the odd one that sparkles.

I actually felt as if I'd not really gotten very many at all. Thirty nine exposures in all out of which I kept twenty two. Could have been a little more trigger happy if I'd been willing to swap lenses more. Unfortunately I thought it a clever idea to bring my tripod which restricted access to my bag and added extra weight all day. I really didn't need it and didn't use it, especially as for the indoor shots I had my A50f1.7 wish it had AF though)
Lessons learned:
Leave tripod behind unless you know you'll need it.
Get an AF fast 50mm prime (a couple of manual focus shots were out of focus), or split prism focusing screen.
Tasks not achieved:
Get a photo for the flight competition (I completely forgot).
Get a move on with your photos Took me 15 mins to sort mine out, although I still need to change my uploaded 'The Door to Number Twelve' to the slightly more vibrant version.

Hello
Richard , I thought part of the reason for meeting up was so that you could hide behind other people whilst looking things up in the manual! It is also agood way of getting practical tips in the field. I just enjoy taking photos as a record of what I see.
It felt good in saltaire church to be considered commercial - must be the great style of the pentax gear or was it Dan and Alan posing with the K10D and tripods? The only problem was the the church warden wanted real money and not a 50p donation
Dan the bridge is only a train ride away from leeds station. I will sort out some suggested walks/photo areas for you.
Great day out, good people to be with. I look forward to next one. Let me know preferred dates and venues in a pm and i will collate them and suggest a time and place on a posting. and yes I will check out the cafes first so that there is enough space for Dan's gear bag
Perhaps harry and Richard could join us as well.
I will sort out my pictures and post something over the next few days.

I wonder if he charged the camera crew filming weird modified toasters?
Thanks, that would be very good as I really want to get out and explore the surrounding areas more.
My gear bag isn't that big... Sadly though it is mostly empty. I think the tripod got in the way more than anything.

Hey guys, it sounds like you all had a great day and I wish I could have been there. Let me know when the next one is going to be and I will definitely make it, as long as it is not Nov 10 or 11, thats my next W/E to work.

Here are a few of my shots form saturday
They show more of my interest rather than technical photography.
Still, comments always welcome....

I thought that i would set up a seperate message as the Yorkshire thread is getting a little long and people could be losing the thread.
Where? - Saltaire A world heritage site. It has good parking/rail facilites. We could shoot on the the village, canal, river, the park and always be close to a cafe if it rains.
Time: 10.30
meet: on the railway bridge by the station.
Saltaire is the next station after shipley on the Airedale line from Leeds.
I thought that this would be a good place as the week ahead looks pretty wet and must 'rural sites' will be quite wet. Also it is easy access by car, train or bus!
see http://www.martinruffe.co.uk/retrospective/saltaireBW1.htm for some interesting photos of this world heritage site.
The canal, river and Roberts Park are all adjacent to the station as well. I have also confirmed, with the owners, some possible photography in the amazing Salts Mill if it is raining.
Any one interested in joining us let me know so that we don't set off without you. If you prefer leave me a private message.
