Had to go to a meeting in York so went a couple of hours early.

Sorry Kris but I'm only a half hour away from York and I've seen all theses a hundred times over

Seriously though I like your take on the old favorites, I especially like the last shot, anyone who climbs those stairs deserves a medal, I have certainly never done it.

So what did you think of the Capitol of Yorkshire? and did you get any shots of the carvings around the west door?

Love the station roof.

Well that did my ego the world of good I know York reasonably well, but only had a couple of hours this trip for sight-seeing. I didn't have very long at the Minster so didn't manage any shots around the door.

The roof is my favourite shot, and I am very impressed with the K-series 135mm f/2.5.

The first one is a good shot, probably could do with a bit more pop from post processing.

The second one is a very strong shot. Ok, the focus is not exactly where you wanted it but you could say that you tried to accentuate the chip on his shoulder I love this one.

The third one is a stunner, captivating shot! I would have warmed it a bit but it's a matter of preference. Well done!

The second series does not do the same for me, the first one would need different light and/or post processing, second one is o.k. but too cool for my taste and the third one seems a bit flat to me (though looking at the deepest shadow and brightest highlight I doubt it is).

For a couple of hours this is a terrific bounty I would say.

BTW: The Arachno's shot is not bad either!

PS; I cant believe you didn't shoot the west door (I do it every time I go and still aint got it right)

I find taking photos a time sponge. I got to the Minster, paid my money, then realised I only had an hour left to get up the tower, down the tower and off to my meeting. Just getting up the tower almost killed me as not only did I have my photo gear, but also the papers and laptop I needed for the meeting. I could have quite happily spent another couple of hours wandering around the minster. The station roof photo was taken in the seven minutes between arriving back at the station for my train and getting on it. And I bought a coffee!

'spider it's a long time since i went round the minster, i take it the west door carvings are modern?

The whole arch was replaced with a more modern take on the original carvings which had become badly worn, I think work started in the early 90s and was finished by about 98. A 300mm lens will fill more or less fill the frame with individual scenes, I'll dig some out and post some more.

Maybe you don't expect it from me, but I liked the colour version better.
The pastel brickwork and intense deep blue of the window just works.Sorry!
