Wtd: Quick skip through shutter speeds in K-x.

On a K-x -- When wanting to alter the exposure time a wide range, is there an undocumented way to rapid jump through.

e-Dial is the only method I know of and response is like a snail on valium going from a 1/nn number on up through all 30 secs to Bulb.

Rolling the wheel fast doesn't help because it doesn't seem to ack notch movements cumulative, into any small buffer space like keyboards do.

can you not hit a green button and then twizzle some more?

For HDR I start somewhere, 3-4 clicks between shots and then see what happens. Within 9 shots I'm nearly at one end of the scale...

Can't find anything to assign Green Button to that might help. ?

This is mainly for night shooting and other long exposure stuff Btw, which I enjoy doing a fair bit of.

The rotten thing also increments in 5 second jumps from 15s on too, which I'd prefer it to offer finer resolution throughout the scale.
But a way to jump fast too.

Oh well, serves me right for buying a low end model camera.

You can setup the green button so that it acts like Av,Tv or green mode on command.

So if you're shooting manually and need to make big changes to get the correct exposure it's simpler to press the green button and let the camera suggest a setting and then work from there.

I don't have a K-X but i believe in the main menu you can change the behaviour of the green button between optical preview and things like that and in the custom menu you can change between Av, TV and green mode so to say. They are being called differently, Tv shift = Av; Av shift = Tv; MTF = green mode

Good points. Might just be some combo in there that I haven't tried so I'll do some more experimenting.

One annoying thing I find though is that Green Button re-assignments always deprive you of some other wanteds.

Other settings in K-x cancel out or disable certain previous declared options too, often unexpectedly so my 2 Resets in the menu get a workout.

Don't know of any other way. However, don't see it as a big issue. While it takes twelve rolls of the wheel to get from 1/6000 to bulb, how often do you need to do that. In most cases it will be one or two rolls. Indeed three rolls of the wheel takes you between 1/15 and 1/400.

With the K10D and the other advance models you've most of the shared function of the green button from the K-X under separate buttons.

I wonder what happens to the settings if you switch from manual to Av and back again.
If it takes the settings of the other mode then that might be a work around but maybe not ideal though.

Yeah s'pose I should accept its limitations and pay more effort to learning shortcuts where and if they exist.

I just thought some healthy cussing and foot stamping might alter how things are designed to work.
