I was thinking of going with just a DA 55-300 as they seem to be pretty good but since at times i might need more lenght and from this website and a few others i got the impression that these are not good with tc so this sigma was the only good zoom lens i could think of that could also be used with a tc for more lenght and give excellent sharpness and IQ..
150-500 is another good option but people have said that its not as good as the 100-300m even with a 2x tc.

The 150-500mm focuses better than a 100-300mm and 2x converter plus gives you the correct exif information. The Sigma 100-300mm is best used on it's own and cropping so if you want length and file size then go for either the 50-500mm OS or 150-500mm OS. Saying that, if you can put up with the hit and miss focus with the 100-300mm and 2x combo the IQ is very good.

If you really want a Sigma 100-300mm f4 and Sigma 2x converter then PM me as I am tempted to sell mine as I am looking to buy something else.

so would a 1.7x sigma tc be better with the 100-300mm? the 150-500m does look a bit to heavy for carrying around all the time and i might then just go for the DA 55-300m

No such thing as a Sigma 1.7x TC ... Pentax do a semi autofocus 1.7x adapter but it's a pain to use on a zoom lens. The best converter for the 100-300mm f4 is actually the new Pentax 1.4x as it's fully reporting and works very well in continuous AF but then we are starting to talk serious money for both lens and converter (well over a grand).

The DA 55-300mm is an excellent lens for the money, it's not a patch on the 100-300mm (you really start to notice if you are cropping hard) but it's certainly the best zoom lens currently available for Pentax in that range.

Must admit though, I wouldn't be without my Sigma 50-500mm OS (very little difference between that and the 150-500mm) ... use a knock off black rapid strap and you don't notice the weight so much.
