Would you like to see an FAQ section here

Since this site is going to be revamped, and in parallel to the idea of having a critique section, does anybody else think that an FAQ section might be useful, if only to give Matt more time to come up with some useful howto's and PS actions

There does seem to be an awful lot of repeat questions that might save us time in reading/responding if we had an FAQ section to address them. You know the one's I mean, if not, "Will my old manual Pentax lenses work on a Pentax DSLR?", that kind of question.

The trouble is, when does a single question become an FAQ?

My feeling is that the difficult signal-to-noise ratio at the moment is caused by users not appending to a thread, but starting a new one on exactly the same topic with a slightly different title (Drives me mad!)

Perhaps they don't realise that adding to a thread puts the thread at the top of the topic automatically!!! (Which reminds me - there should be a "Guidelines for posting" sticky thread).

But, it's true that questions can disappear into the forums after a relatively short time... but that's what the SEARCH is there for

Totally, totally totally agree, but the search facility alone is not always suitable. So how about a section specifically devoted to howtos, PS actions and any other tricks of the trade (ie a Techniques Section). IMHO this has a certain appeal, even if it simply collates links to pages on other sites

The idea of an FAQ or techniques area is a good one - is there any way of the moderators being able to use all of our input to build up a wikipedia style thread of info on the popular topics - Pentaxipedia???

The list could kick off with some of the following topics that get asked regularly...

To add to Will's list, I would like to see a section on how to determine the sharpness of an image. To my untrained eyes all images, unless they are blurred by movement, look sharp

FAQ is a good idea. I liked in the January Issue of the magazine the article on how to remove blemishes. That sort of article be it in the magazine, in a e-mail newsletter or here on the forum is what attracts me to clubs. Learning and helping others when I can. This is the fun for me in the User Club.
