I'd have been well happy with those despite, the movement in the first shot.

Has your Woody got the hang of flying onto the feeder or is it a bit hit and miss? We have one thats just found out how to get onto the bird table by landing on the roof and precariously walking down to the edge, he then does a little hop and turn mid flight to get to the table, extremely entertaining to watch, unfortunately we dont get much light up that end of the garden so I cant even begin to match your shots

We have two large seed feeders, this one has "hoops" for the birds to perch on and is used by all birds - the Doves and Pigeons don't seem to take long to learn the trick! The other feeder has "posts" so only the small birds can use it - so far!

To capture the wing detail, perhaps. But to capture the moment, I'd disagree. If you watch birds pulling off difficult landings often enough, you realise that it's just as much a critical phase of flight as it is for human pilots, and they do have to work quite hard to do it well in difficult conditions such as this. You've captured that sense very well.

I think these are both terrific. And to coin someone else's phrase, they're sharp where it counts.
