Will the K-x be ok ?

Can I ask the forum to take a look at my flickr photostream and advise if the K-x will be suitable for me. In particular will the af point selected be an issue ?
I personally think that it won't because so much of my shots are landscape and if set to centre then I just have to learn to overcome that way. The K-x is available in several shops as different packages, but one has new body for £299 and 18-55 MK II for £49 which is very appealing.

Fabulous photostream. I think you're right in that it won't be an issue with AF on centre point. You'll still get the green hexagon focus confirmation in the viewfinder. What a bargain - go for it!

Edit: Although I just noticed you already have a K200D. I would be less sure about switching from that model. I thought you were upgrading from a compact...

I no longer have the K200D. I seem to get the impression that there is quite an improvement in IQ in the K-x over the K200D, dpreview did not like the K200D jpeg's whereas the K-x jpeg's are much better. And before everybody wades in I don't have the time for raw and pp

Very nice pics! I'm also not sure what the Kx will give you that will make those pictures any better than you managed with the K200D and D40, although it might help with the greater dynamic range and higher ISO ability for your twilight shots...

For landscapes the AF point shouldn't be an issue, its more of a problem if you are into people photos, but there's still a centre circle in the viewfinder... it is the biggest problem I have with my Kx though, which is solved with the Kr I think, but that's a lot more expensive!

If you did decide to get the Kx and are looking to save pennies, you could have my 18-55 for peanuts, as I never used the kit lens (beware of the LBA disease...)
Still shooting in the dark (literally and metaphorically)...

Donald,

Go for it - it's a good camera, and it will be in its element doing more of what you do well on flickr.

But then, I could be biased

I am torn over the K-x which just keeps coming down but cannot go much lower surely than today,Park Cameras: £469.99 with the 18-55/55-300 lenses, has to be a pretty smart deal at that price and I am a sucker for bargains.

Or you could try Currys, they have the K-x/18-55/50-200 bundle for £399.99 LINK

I never understood the complaints about the K200d jpeg quality. Mine's fine, it was probably a canon user who tested the camera, decided to 'alter' the truth as it was a threat to the canon equivalent!
Cheers, HG

K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.

Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...

PPG entries.

I'd go for the longer reach twin lens kit. It is worth the extra IMO

Dpreview showed the difference between jpeg and raw when they reviewed the K200D, and there was a difference, but I sometimes feel that these reviews blast a camera for issues that are only seen in large prints and when pixel peeping. When it came to reviewing its replacement they said the K200D was one of the best specified entry level dslr's ever.

Wasn't there a red dwarf episode based on that?

Back to topic: 300 over 200 is a *lot* of extra reach for £70.

Agreed Bret, but if there's a tight budget it's better than just a standard lens.
