It isn't called the Ricoh K-3, it's called the Pentax K-3. Ricoh Imaging is the company that makes Pentax cameras and lenses.

Pentax User remains Pentax User.

Hope that clears it up for you!
Best regards, John

Not sure what point you're making here Shaun.

I think there are more pressing things to fret about than speculating on the unknown future. It really doesn't matter what the range is called, but clearly Ricoh have decided Pentax will apply to DSLRs and RIcoh to compacts.

Which is what they said right from the beginning.

Hi to all, I have just read the hands on by the dpreview team and from the looks of it the canon/nikon teams will be scrambling to try and get up there. An answer to you Puma is that Pentax is now a brand name owned by ricoh, no point in them changing a brand name that sells for something that won't. Anyhow I am glad I have waited might upgrade now to a k3. Regards Ian

Pentax is still the brand,so I cant see any reason whatsoever ever to change the forum to Ricoh user.

The brand name Pentax isn't going anywhere.

Lumix is the brand name for Panasonic cameras. The forum for Panasonic Lumix cameras is called... Lumix G Forums. Not Panasonic forums. Pentax is the brand name Ricoh are retaining for their DSLR range. So this forum can stay 'Pentax User'.

It's the Ricoh Pentax K-3 in the same way that the first of many was the Asahi Pentax.

Pentax as a company name is a blip in the history of our favourite camera system, even my MZ-7 says Asahi Optical on the bottom.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

Funny that, on the ePHOTOzine's preview, it says Pentax on both sides.

When BMW owned Rover Cars, everywhere in the world they were marketed as part of the BMW Group, except in the UK. So what is wrong with Pentax being part of Ricoh?
