Will K mount bodycap fit DSLRs?

Sorry for this total newbie question. I bought my K10D second hand without a bodycap. Will an original K mount bodycap from the earliest manual focus Pentax days fit on it as I noticed one on E Bay this evening?

Cheers.

Yes. You can also get genuine Pentax ones from Jacobs (http://www.jacobsdigital.co.uk/index.php?target=products&product_id=120111) for around £6 - they have the added advantage of locking whereas some of the third party ones don't. I bought a couple recently as I have a habit of losing them.....
Cameras: 2x K20D/D-BG2 | K10D/D-BG2 | *istD

An older style hard lack plastic body cap will fit, but it won't lock. Newer caps have a hole to lock the cap in place in the same way that a lens is locked onto the body.

Older caps a fine and much better than the translucent white shipping cap you get with a body nowadays.

Am I alone in being disgusted with the Pringles top you get as standard?

I read that those caps are only used for shipping purposes, as Peter also says, and should be discarded and replaced asap.

They should be replaced by a lens. There's very little need for a body cap apart maybe for a backup body. The shipping cap is adequate, but the proper bayonet ones are much better.

I usually find I need a supply of both these and lens back caps as sometimes I buy body+lens and then sell them separately, so there's aleways a shortage of caps.

The low cost option is to buy a "bumper pack" of them on eBay, and in fact I have just done that. I'm waiting for the package to arrive as we speak.
Best regards, John

I am sorry, but on a body costing over £500, I consider the replacement of a 20p piece of plastic with a 2p one shoddy.

Another point - looking at SRS and a couple of other sites, I can only find the Pringles lid. No proper ones.

Apologies to BlincoDave for dragging his thread off topic.
