Wide angle flash

I can see I'm going to have to buy a TTL flash cable and have a go.

Do different manufacturers use a different hot shoe? I ask as I've seen TTL cables much cheaper for Nikon than Pentax, the contacts look to be in the right place and it's just an extension lead, so it shouldn't care what it's connected between!

Would that cable work? I need the extra contacts to keep the Program function on my AF240Z (which works perfectly with my K-m, causing the camera to set the correct aperture and shutter speed to take account of the flash).

I haven't seen 3third party contacts with TTL support for Pentax.

If you want to keep the Program function on your flash I don't believe you need all the contacts only the trigger because the Program is all flash based and doesn't involved need communication with the camera.
I'm now assuming that program is the same as Auto mode on the AF540FGZ flash so I could be wrong.

Update: This cord look about right but don't know if it will work though link

Problem solved - I've found some intended for Pentax cameras for the same money.

My AF240Z and K-m do talk to each other, in as far as the flash is able to communicate when it's ready and trigger the camera to select the right aperture (and then choose a shutter speed taking account of the flash). It uses the two rear contacts but not the P-TTL one at the front. I'd just like to get one with the P-TTL contacts in case I ever decide to buy a new flash instead of my 20 year old one!

I have been trying to find a Metz 50 AF-1 but seems they are being released at Photokina so I will have to wait....

With the flash used straight on, will there be any problem of the shadow of the lens appearing in the frame, as it does with the onboard flash at 10mm?
No, I have its predecessor (the Metz 48 ) and it does not cast a shadow in the situations where the onboard flash does. The widest lens I have is the Sigma 10-20 though, so YMMV if there is a 10-17 fisheye or Sigma 8-16 in your bag.
