Photobook: Frick digitaldruck, but it was fully-prepared PDFs.

Dlab7 or Peak imaging for better prints.

Cost and hassle. It's rather tedious setting up a fully colour managed work flow and the results can be disastrous if you do not fully understand what you're doing. Given how cheap it is to print at a professional photo lab wher all these things are taken care off for me, I find it hard to justify printing at home.

The only downside is the time it takes to upload a huge job for printing, but you can always set it up to upload overnight.

The cost of a good quality A3 photo printer is probably more than all the money I have spent on prints etc., in the last year or two. Also, A3 photo printers are big and I simply do not have room. I won two boxes of Harman Pro Baryta photo printing paper (A4 and A3) from Black and White Photography magazine and I haven't even taken the cellophane off them yet.

I would dearly love to be able to do my own printing so that I could experiment with different types of paper etc., but in current circumstances it is unlikely.

I print at home. Not a lot, but I do. Particularly photos of the grandchildren and b/w prints, and only up to A4.

Otherwise I tend to use a local supermarket for bulk 10x15cm prints.

The only time I have printed larger than A4 they were done through my photography teacher, when I was still following a course.

I also print albums, again using a national chain store (Hema). I am very happy with the results.

Nothing here is calibrated btw but the colours always come out as expected.

I used to use Photobox a lot, but previous two batches (Sept and Nov 09) were dreadfully dark and all my B&W were green. Sept got reprinted for free by photobox, but November convinced me to look elsewhere - since I wait till there are c100 prints to run looking for sensible prices (a la Photobox) but suspect, as always, you get what you pay for

My main need is 7.5 x 5" for Arrowfile albums (to match the Kodachrome et al) - chap in Jessops told me that had 'never' been a standard size (!!?) so I dont go there much . . .

Peak is great (and handy) and I will accept the cost for the stuff to hang on the wall. Loxley is a new name to me, so off to investigate
