This is seriously weird.
There's a person on Flickr called aftab.com who runs groups dedicated to posting pictures of children.
The domain, aftab.com, is for some US lawyer "providing expertise on cybercrime and cyber-abuse prevention, privacy and data management, cyber-risk management and cyberspace in the workplace issues and on children's Internet and wireless issue"
Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit odd?

About the copyright though, I don't really mind anyone using my stuff as long as they at least give me named credit? My stuff is just a bit of a hobby anyway - hardly worth anything - and I only ever put the low res image on there (so that in the unlikely case that I ever make the cover of National Geographic they would presumably need to contact me to get the pixels for a 300dpi print...?)

Crikey, silly old follow up to this same old thread. So I look at my stats and see referrals to this photo from this 'explore' page - and couldn't understand why. But on the hoverover - little old Emma is apparently "interesting". That tickles me pink

Nice one! getting on Explore is supposedly based on an algorithm which takes into account number of views, favourites, and comments versus the amount of time to amass those things and the number of groups the image is posted to. You used to (possibly still do) get groups of mates gaming the system by favouriting and commenting on each others photos.
It's all just a bit of fun, although getting on Explore does give your photos vastly more exposure. Keep it up

It's nice, especially when you're new to Flickr like I am. 100s of views and contacts with new people - that's really the reason I do this Flickr thing, it spurs me on =)

The only time I got a few was the four days of the Bournemouth air show when I was getting over a thousand per day. I don't post to any groups or tag my pictures though as I cant be bothered with all the "comment on mine and I will comment on yours" crap.

I do post to some groups and I do tag my pictures (although largely for my benefit) but I don't bother with all those post one get three or whatever it is nonsense.
The Hertfordshire group runs a nice competition where the winner's photo becomes the group logo for the month and sets the theme for the next month. The photos are voted on by the group members. The only problem is it is a little slow. This month's winner has yet to be made into the logo and set the theme for next month!

I removed the link to the weirdo in the Flickr page. Didn't feel like giving him the benefit of publicity on Flickr. This is him, though.
This Flickr thing - well it's really the only outlet I have. I guess getting a couple on explore so soon is just beginner's luck. I'm not a member of any photo club or anything so short of continuously boring my kids with it I have to show my rubbish somewhere

So I mail him, ever so politely - could he please edit his comment and just remove all those graphics, thank you?
He has a complete tantrum, unfavourites the photo which he thought was just amazing, deletes all his comments, sends me a stroppy mail and then blocks me

Flickr is nice to meet other enthusiasts but that sort of stuff just makes me despair
