Hello

Two questions in one to save a thread.

Is there a l bracket for the k1 that won't cover the battery cover?

What material should I use to build a tall vflag and where to buy it? It seems that I should go for insulation poly board but the are very tall (2400mm, 1800mm would be enough) and beq doesn't cut them

Kirk do one that works well and allows full access to battery and side panels.

Wex stock it, though it is pricey.

That stuff is very easy to cut with a long hand saw - all you need is some sort of table/support, a straight-edged piece of wood and a black marker to mark the cut line, and then cut down that line. Shouldn't take more than about 5 mins per cut.

Does create a lot of dust and small flying particles - that's probably B&Q won't cut it!
(Insulated the pitches of our roof with that stuff - that's why I know! )
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

It's very light and somewhat flexible - can you not tie it on the roof (run the ropes through the windows!), and then drive very slowly?

In relation to the L Bracket I spent ages looking for one that did not cover the battery cover for the K3, in the end I stumbled on one by SRB Photographic, its available in 3 sizes so you may have to check the sizes in relation to the K1. The good news is the price is good at £25 for the small up to £35 for the large. Details here

Just looked at them, really want one for the K1 and D810, both have grips and I don't believe the L grips will be able to deal with gripped cameras...

then there is the small matter of the Arca swiss - apart from my Benro Gimbal all my other heads are standard Manfrotto stuff.
AKA Welshwizard/PWynneJ
Assorted Pentax/Nikon/Mamiya stuff

There is always the Manfrotto L-bracket but is a crude and expensive contraption. To cope with the Kirk L-bracket I changed the mounts on my Manfrotto heads for a replacement by Sunwayfoto which will take both Manfrotto and Arca Swiss plates.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a “vflag”?
