Which kit lens should I keep?

I'm clearing out my gear and I have two different kit lenses. The 18-35mm that came with my *ist DS and the 18-55mm that came with my K10D. I'll probably do some side by side tests to pick which, but does anyone have any particular opinions as to which would be best to keep? I can't seem to find any decent data about the 18-35 in the net.

Biggest difference between the two apart from the 35-55mm is

18-35 is FA-J - can be used on film and digital
18-55 is DA - can be used on digital only....

A lot depends on how good your 18-55 is.. Mine wasn't so good so I don't miss it..

You are right there's not a lot of information out there about this lens and I checked Bob Dimitrov's resource and there was only technical information....

Thanks. I hadn't realised that. So the 18-35 is an older design? As I don't have an 'analogue' camera which is capable of making use of the lens (my film cameras are ME-Supers) then that probably won't make much difference which I keep in that respect. It's going to come down to a few tests and personal taste isn't it?

The 18-55mm is the more useful of the two on DSLRs. It focuses closer, has a greater zoom range and is more compact.

We found little difference in performance but preferred the handling of the 18-55mm.

Interesting that you got the 18-35 with your Ds - I got the 18-55 with mine.
