Which gun do I get?

Hey all looking for advice as per normal

Ime thinking about buying my first flash gun. Just because sometime I feel the regular camera flash just dosent quite have enough flash for what I want.
I dont want anything to pricey but I need it to be versatile and obviously compatible with my K20D.

I have been looking at the bellow 2 from SRS.

Metz Mecablitz 36 AF-4 Digital Flash - Pentax Fit
Pentax AF-200FG Flash

Any thoughts or recomendations? I was leening towards the metz.

The pentax one is just an powerfull flash then the build-in nothing more so the Metz is the winner.
I don't know what you want to do with it but it might be better to look for a bit expensive model, that one doesn't have wireless, less features and also the manual control is lacking I believe... don't know that one for sure.

So what do you want do with it?
If you really want to do more with the flash then get a Sigma 530 DG ST or the Metz48.

Sigma DG ST model has loads of power, but virtually no control. You'd be better off spending the little bit extra on the Metz 48. Power is nothing without control.

Metz seem to have a good rep.
Like I said ime after a bit of a low level all rounder, mainly for portrait work and close shots under cover of woods etc though it may get used for anything in my learning curve experiments LOL

For those subjects get one that works wireless.
I've used the flash quite a lot just in my hands with Macro work and inside it's handy you can aim the flashhead to let the light bounce of ceilings and walls.

If you want control, get the Sigma DG Super. It is pretty good for the price. You can use it in wireless mode, high speed synchro, bounce, swivel and just about everything you can think of. The downside is the LCD display that's not very well laid out and the instruction manual. It seems like it's been translated to English by somebody who spoke only Chinese.

I have a Sigma DG Super and it has been an excellent buy. Yes the display could be better but I get constant results. Just don't get very demanding because it will not cope without a cooling period
