In answer to your question about which one to buy, the Pentax K-1 is best, why settle for less!*

Be sure to ask them for a trio of lenses to go with it.*

* If money's no object, that is.

well if you want a cheap and chearful camera the go for the sony with a 3 star rating

if you want a canon or a nikon then expect to pay ove the odds but if you want somthing that as got a few people raving about in the press then go for the k70 which is weather sealed un like the rest in its class and is build like a tank or should i say bulit proof

it feels like its well made and not plasticie like the canon and nikon

and the other advantage of the pentax is

you have all us lot to suport you if you need some advice with words of wisdom

oh for got to mention the k70 as a4 1/2 star rating out of 5 stars where the others havent

The Pentax K50 was my first DSLR, which did everything I wanted and then more some. I still use it occasionally, I suppose the current equivalent will be the K70 which has received excellent reviews. Advantage over the other similar priced products is the excellent viewfinder with a pentaprism which they will only put in their more expensive models. Pair it with a good standard zoom lens and it should do everything you need.

The K-70 with the 18-135mm WR lens. They have these upgraded kits on sale from time to time and the 18-135mm WR lens is better than the standard 18-55 kit lens. It will allow you to practice more ranges of photography. That or get used or new the regular 18-55mm and 50-200mm combination kit and get used to more than one lens. I don't recommend the super zooms such as 18-200 or 300 or the old full frame 28-200 lenses as they don't normally give the best results on aps-c cameras.

The only other price wise comparable features camera would be the Panasonic G85 but that is mirrorless and micro four thirds so normal low light photography won't be as good as Pentax. G85 video is better than the K70 as far as clarity goes, however it is a bit flat or hazy at times as it has a smaller sensor. 24 megapixels is generally the sweet spot where you can squeeze out more detail without a huge amount of post processing work in software like lightroom or Corel Aftershot.
