The only converter I have been happy with is the Pentax HD AW 1.4TC, i.e. the latest one. It is superb. I have tried various others, none came close.

We're there no convertors for the F or fa lenses?
There are plenty of a convertors and even a 645 one on ebay at decent prices but I don't want another that the lenses done latch.
I can still use the one I have but it is very hard as whenever you try to zoom or focus you also have to hold the lens to stop it from demating from the magnifier.

*IF* you can find one, Pentax rear converter-A 2X-S (for under 300mm: 2X-L for longer ones). IQ is wonderful and I see no reason why any K type lens would not latch. The electrical contacts are there but no AF

I'm not sure if I'm on topic, but there's the Pentax A 2X-S (some info here: http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/teleconverters/A2X-S.html ) and one is on sale here

This one appears to have electrical contacts, not sure if it would suit to Bruce...
I found a nice and cheap way to make good (huge) images of the Moon, a bit fiddly and requires an amateur telescope (a cheap 70mm dia, 900mm focal length can do the job with some limitations)

This one was shot with a 18-55mm kit lens a few years ago.

The Kenko 1.4X "Pz" version DOES work with SDM and DC lenses - I have one!

K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

Can't find one of them I can see some Kenko MC7 convertors which seem to have electrical connectors only 26 Euros so probably worth the risk...

Also this thread.
From what I gathered previously, only the Pz 1.4x does work with SDM/DC/HSM motors but the 2X version does not.

The 1.4x might well do but this is 1,5x and only the kenko 1.5X marked SHQ will work with SDM/HSM. I have both!!

I don't think anyone knows which converter works with a 'D-FA' 80-320 All I know of is an 'FA' version.
You can't go wrong with the Kenko /Teleplus Pz or non-PZ on any non-SDM/Powerzoom lens.

Which are the cheaper convertor that will latch newer lenses with or without electrics?
My main interest is in getting some good moon shots I have the WR DA 55-300 but this doesn't get close enough.
I just got my hands on a totally mint DFA 80-320 and was hoping this would pair up with my x 2 magnifier but no luck.
I don't want to spend £100+ so the 1.4 pentax rear convertor isn't znd option for me.
Any suggestions for a convertor / magnifier that will work with F znd FA lenses and maybe even DAs?
