Where's the Serial Number?

I've just bought a D-DA 70-210mm f4 and cannot find the serial number on the lens (I keep a log of serial numbers in case of loss, theft etc). It's the only Pentax lens I've got that doesn't have a serial number on the lens. Am I missing something obvious ? There's a serial number on the box, but as it's a used lens from a dealer that may have had more than one copy there's obviously scope for boxes and lenses to get swapped.

I have a dfa 70 to 210 f4 and there's no obvious serial number, didn't look under the tripod mount though hope that helps.

There is a number on my copy. Its on the underside of the AF/MF ringwhen mounted. Its not picked out in white so very hard to see. the nos are very small. Mine is 94316196. I used a loupe to read it.

By golly, you're right!! Thank you!!!

How on earth did you find it?? Even though you'd pointed out where it was, it took good lighting and a jeweler's loupe for me to find and read it, Thankfully, it matches the serial number on the box .

Ah, your picture shows that it isn't a Pentax tripod mount. Someone must have found a 3rd party mount that fits.

They don't call me Sherlock for nothing! Then again they don't call me Sherlock. The tripod mount for the Tamron equivalent lens fits the Pentax, but it isn't cheap.

The replacement tripod foot is also available on Amazon here.

I have the Tamron one in EF mount and have considered buying the tripod foot but so far not done it.
