There is really no difference apart "what i have been told" the latter Prakticar versions were made in Japan , some say the Japanese versions were inferior.....not sure of this having not used the Japanese made version.

Just been reading a post on Flikr asking the same question ,according to somebody who knows more than me Zeiss only licensed the making of optics to a Japanese company , to make lenses for PS cameras , so a Prakticar 2.4 35mm is the same lens as the Carl Zeiss 2.4 35mm Flektogon
