I use a similar set up but with the K5lls but have the camera set to record the images in DNG format.. On the k5's it's menu 3 RAW File Format. Then you don't have to do any converting, I just import them into Lightroom. I do that using File, Import Photo and Video

I don't use Lightroom, only Elements 12, but I record images as DNG - same as Barrie.

Use DNG and use the "copy" setting in Lightroom.

Pentax are very helpful in allowing DNG RAW capture. I use it all of the time.
Elements 11 can't decode RAW files from my Lumix so I have to go through a process to convert them to DNG first which is annoying and slow.

I have a k3, lightroom 6 and ps elements 14. Should i be using PEF or DNG for raw?
If its DNG, when i transfer my card contents onto hard drive, then into lightroom, do i click "copy", or "copy as DNG" (if they are already dng?).
Bit confused!!!!!
