What prime lens for Macro Tubes?

Hi all

Thanks to 'davex' I soon be in possession if a set of Kenko AF Macro Tubes. Now I do know that they are not Auto Focus but rather aperture automatic and Program etc.
I would like to know what would be the best primes to use with the set. I got an SMC M-50mm f1.7.
How would a 135mm compare to a 28mm other than that I can be farther away from the object with the 135mm?
Anyone can shed some light on this?
What would be the 'ideal' lens for auto tubes?
Would any zooms be any good?
I try to find a book that deal with all of this but so far I failed. Any tips or links?
Kind regards

It's nice to be nice!

Pentax K-5 with D-GB4 Grip, to many lenses to mention by now (serious LBA by now), TC's, Lowepro Slingshot 300 AW, Manfrotto 028 & Redsnapper RS-283 with various Heads plus various Camera Clamps (I collect them). Pentax AF 360FGZ, Pentax AF 240FT, several Metz 45 CT-1 & 5 with stands and 'Blow Up' Soft Boxes, Flash Triggers, and various Macro gear.

Take a look at this guys work ... unbelievable link

He uses a set of tubes and a 50mm reversed on the end with an adapter, although you can still get very close even without reversing take a look at these two of mine link

Your 'nifty 50' will do nicely. Then experiment with others.

Many thanks for that guys. Can not get the 135 now anyway as the eBay seller has cancelled my bid because I asked why he was charging £10.00 for snail mail delivery (2nd class normal).
He took real offence to that, changed the posting to 1st class recorded and calls me now an 'insane nutter', he called the first buyer of the lens, who seemed to have send it back 'the git!' and that is all in his sales pitch!
I never did anything of what he accused me of and I complained to eBay via phone to have his accusations and foul language removed (also I do not hold my breath on that one), also I had to prove to eBay my conversation with him before my bid and eBay admitted that I had done nothing of what he accused me of so there may be hope.
Anyway, many thanks for the 'food for thought'. It will be the first time I use Tubes so there may come more questions as I go along.
As usual, thanks for all your help.
Kind regards

G'day. (I have to say that, as it's Australia Day today).
I recently bought an M-50 f2 on ebay, which is the cheapest of the 50's. Cost me about $30 (20 quid), and a cheap reversing ring from China, $8.
So far I'm impressed with the results. I still need to crop down, but even though I'm using a 6MP K100D Super, the results still aren't too bad. I'll be ordering the cheapy $10 extension tubes soon.
The crucial element is flash. I'm using an old AF200SA Pentax flash, with a high-tech tissue and rubber band diffuser. Single layer tissue setting.

Here's a link, if I can work out how to do it...

G'day (for your Australia Day )
I admired the picture before. My wife was jumping out of her skin
Anyway, I got the auto tubes from 'davex' and I got a 50mm 1.7 but I wanted a bit more distance between me and the 'model' without loosing too much of the macro element.
I am not sure if I could use a zoom lens and whet the quality would be like with them. That's why I was asking for the primes.
If I am not completely wrong I get greater enlargement with a 28mm but have a shorter distance to the model and if I use a 135mm I have a greater distance to the model but the enlargement would not be as great?
I try to find an eBook from somewhere that goes in to details about this all and explains the what to use and how to use it for macro photography but I can not find anything that is dealing with the subject only.
Anyone got any ideas?
Kind regards
